Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Full-Time & Casual Location: Wexford Creek Seniors Community, Nanaimo, BC Pay: $32.84–$41.35 per hour

  • Days: 4-on, 2-off schedule (0700h–1500h)

Are you an RN Student? Students enrolled in an RN program who have completed their 2nd year and hold a Student Nurse Certification from BCCNM are encouraged to apply!

Your Role as an LPN:

As a key member of our care team, you will be responsible for the overall well-being of our residents. Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Performing resident assessments, developing care plans, and providing hands-on nursing care.
  • Leading and supervising our care staff, acting as a mentor and resource.
  • Administering medications safely and participating in medication reviews.
  • Communicating with residents, families, and physicians to manage and prevent conflicts or concerns.
  • Completing documentation, incident reports, and monitoring Rai 2.0 assessments.
  • Assisting with the resident admission process to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Championing resident safety and ensuring all OH&S policies are followed.

What You Need to Succeed (Must-Haves):

  • Certification: You must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) registered and in good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Student Nurses: RN Students with BCCNM Student Nurse Certification (after Year 2) are welcome.
  • Clearance: A satisfactory and current Criminal Records Check.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must be resourceful, organized, and able to work with a minimum of supervision.

Our Ideal Candidate (Nice-to-Haves):

  • Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Experience with MDS, Point Click Care, or Gold Care.

Physical Requirements:

  • This role involves frequent standing, walking, and lifting.
  • You must be able to lift and/or transfer residents and handle stressful situations in a fast-paced environment.
