Job Title: SEN Education Support Worker (2:1 Provision – Immediate Start)
Location: Grimsby (Hub-based setting)
Hours: Currently 6 hours per week, with the ambition to increase to 12 hours per week
Times: 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Start Date: Immediate
Pay: £25 per hour
Job Overview
We are seeking a calm, confident and experienced SEN Education Support Worker to join our team to support a 9-year-old male pupil to provide a 2:1 provision, working alongside a qualified tutor who will be delivering the learning.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong SEN education background who is comfortable supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour and require consistent, trauma-informed support. The provision takes place in a hub-based environment in Grimsby and focuses on creating a safe, structured and supportive learning space.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 SEN support alongside a tutor within a 2:1 education model
- Support the pupil to access learning activities delivered by the tutor
- Assist with emotional regulation, transitions and behaviour support
- Implement strategies to reduce dysregulation and support engagement
- Maintain a calm, consistent and nurturing approach at all times
- Support routines, boundaries and expectations within the hub setting
- Communicate effectively with the tutor and wider team to ensure consistency
- Record brief session notes and contribute to progress updates where required
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working with children with SEN
- Confidence supporting pupils who can display challenging behaviour
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- Ability to work collaboratively alongside a tutor
- Strong communication and observation skills
Desirable (but not essential)
- Background in SEN education, alternative provision or pastoral support
- Experience working in 2:1 or 1:1 education settings
- Relevant qualifications in SEN, education, childcare or youth work
