Our Intern Program is designed to support the development of students and recent graduates for future positions by offering one-on-one mentoring, peer and experiential learning, internal training programs, and much more. We are currently accepting applications for undergraduate and master’s level students or recent graduates seeking the opportunity to work in the investment management space.
Reporting to the Director Cybersecurity, the Intern, Cybersecurity will contribute to the monitoring of cybersecurity technologies and focus on the ongoing support and oversight of several cybersecurity services integral to IMCO’s cybersecurity program. The position will analyze, visualize, and support the Cybersecurity Strategy of IMCO. The position will also help support the overall cybersecurity roadmap, environments and supporting technologies.
The candidate will possess a blend of knowledge and expertise from security operations, governance, and compliance perspective as well as have the ability to be hands-on technically when required.
The role will include:
- Working with our Managed Security Services Provider in responding to security incidents and alerts
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT security issues, be it individually or as a team ensuring findings are documented for the benefit of other IT staff
- Interaction with all levels of IMCO personnel in order to articulate the impact of security events to the business and the proposed mitigation plans
- Day-to-day administration of information security tools, assessing the security practices and configurations, and promoting security awareness
- Contribute to quarterly and annual training programs to educate employees on IT policy changes and help stop preventable breaches
- Having excellent written and verbal communication skills
The Intern, Cybersecurity is responsible for cybersecurity monitoring, and maintenance in alignment with business initiatives. The candidate will collaborate with security operations regarding threat identification, remediation and incident response.
The position will work in close partnership with other IT team members and vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Work with IT teams and the business to support a secure and resilient cyber architecture
- Evaluate, analyze and recommend new security tools and technologies, as it relates to system security
- Collaborate with Managed Security Services Providers to ensure appropriate notification and follow through is in place for any and all identified issues, threats and incidents
- Support in the overall response to cyber breaches in a timely and effective manner by ensuring appropriate groups have been notified of threats or vulnerabilities for immediate corrective actions
- Provide guidance and proactively work with technology peers and stakeholders to ensure all technology controls and security components are integrated into the IMCO overall enterprise architecture
- Support the Cybersecurity team for the information security training and awareness program to educate IMCO employees on the need for security
- Provide ongoing technology risk monitoring, measuring and reporting in the Microsoft Security Portal
- Ensure control gaps are identified, documented and remediation plans developed
- Participate in and support Cybersecurity team in the incident response and forensic investigation processes
- Participate in review third party risk assessments, audit reports and recommendations for actions and remediation strategies
- Participate in the administration of cybersecurity related governance activities
- Document Information Security Policy, Procedures and Standards as required.
- Help Developing and execute phishing campaigns to test staff
- Help developing company-wide best practices for Cybersecurity
- Other duties as assigned
What You Need to Succeed:
- Must be willing to continually strive towards expanding their cybersecurity skills and designations and stay up-to date on security trends and standards.
- Solid interpersonal and influencing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Understanding and practical knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks
- Demonstrated process orientation capabilities
- Knowledge of SIEM tools, AV, Managed Security Services, Security Training, Vulnerability management, Patch Management
- Must be detail oriented, able to work and act independently and able to successfully execute their part in complex projects
- Must be able to keep deadlines

The base salary range for this position is CAD $45,000 to $65,000. The placement within the range is determined by the role and assessment of the candidate’s year of study and relevant work experience.
