Overview
MAX Taxback Ltd is a fast-growing, digitally focused accountancy practice specialising in the construction industry, with a strong CIS client base.
We currently support over 150 CIS subcontractors with their year-end self-assessments and are expanding rapidly as we roll out our highly competitive Let’s Get Digital package in preparation for Making Tax Digital.
We are seeking a hybrid Accounts Assistant with construction industry experience and strong QuickBooks Online to support our growing client base and play a key role in scaling our digital bookkeeping services.
This role suits someone practical, organised, and confident communicating in a clear, straightforward, no-nonsense manner with both colleagues and clients.
The Role:
You will work closely with our bookkeeping and accounts team, supporting day-to-day bookkeeping for construction clients and ensuring records are accurate, compliant, and digitally ready. The role is hands-on and system-led, with QuickBooks at the core of our processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records in QuickBooks Online
- Using QuickBooks Tags to structure, analyse, and report on client data
- Producing custom QuickBooks reports to support internal reviews and client discussions
- Processing accounts payable and receivable transactions
- Reconciling bank accounts, supplier invoices, and CIS-related transactions
- Supporting month-end and year-end procedures
- Assisting with CIS record keeping and client queries
- Supporting client onboarding and migration into QuickBooks as part of our Making Tax Digital rollout
- Maintaining clean, well-organised digital records to support compliance and audit requirements
- Working collaboratively with the wider team to ensure consistent standards and workflows
Skills & Experience (Essential)
- Previous experience working with construction industry clients
- Strong working knowledge of CIS subcontractor bookkeeping
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online
- Confident using QuickBooks Tags and producing custom reports
- QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor status (or actively working towards certification)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident handling reconciliations and financial data
- Clear, direct communication style – able to explain issues simply and practically
- Organised, methodical, and comfortable managing workloads independently
- Familiarity with Making Tax Digital requirements and digital bookkeeping migrations
Desirable (But Not Essential)
- Experience supporting CIS subcontractors with self-assessment preparation

Pay: £17.00-£28.00 per hour
