Office Support Work from Home Job (All Steel Service)

Full job description

All Steel Service is hiring for an office support role. This position is completely remote, and could be ideal for stay-at-home moms (SAHMs) or stay-at-home dads.

The steel industry is a niche one, and we do not expect you to have any meaningful experience or connection with it. The only prerequisites are: kindness, a reliable internet connection, and a quiet room to work in.

Mathematical aptitude, although not essential, could be helpful because we are often working with dimensions, drawings, and formulas.

Responsibilities

• Responsibilities include: using Excel to keep track of inventory, sorting and scanning PDFs, data entry, preparing basic reports in Excel, reading and interpreting steel drawings, organizing electronic files, and other tasks that are mostly of an administrative nature.

Required skills

• As mentioned earlier, the only skills we absolutely require are: kindness, good WiFi, and a quiet place to work. We can train for the rest 🙂
• If you have more of a mathematical skill set, we can give you work that involves more mathematical reasoning. If your math skills are not as strong, then we could give you roles that involve less mathematical reasoning. (Note: by “mathematical skill set,” we mean things such as: adding/subtracting/multiplying fractions, solving basic algebraic equations, being comfortable with basic plane and solid geometries, etc.)

Training

• All training will be done during normal business hours, and you will (of course) get paid while being trained. Since the steel industry is a niche one, we expect about 3 months of more focused training, with training continuing on in some capacity for the first 6-9 months. Training will be done a little bit each day, because training in long 5-hour blocks is boring and nobody remembers anything from it anyways.

Hours

• Ideally, we would want someone to work from approximately 1pm ET-6pm ET or 2pm-7pm ET Monday-Friday. The reason for these somewhat odd hours is that we are in the production business, and so most of our work is time sensitive, and so we need to keep production going even outside of the standard 9am-5pm time block. (Note: If the 1pm-6pm ET time block does not work for you, but you are still interested in this role, we would invite you to apply anyways. We can be flexible and adjust the working hours for candidates we especially like :).)

A note to SAHMs

• We have successfully hired and integrated moms into our company before, in roles that are very similar to this job posting. We understand that you may have taken time out of the labor force to spend time with your family. We admire this decision, and do not see it as a negative or something to hide on the resume.
• If you have a good attitude and a reasonable amount of general intelligence, we are 100% confident that we can train you for this role. We can make this claim because we have trained other moms before, and none of them had any background in the steel industry.
